Blogging slacker!
I know I said I would be blogging our way through Scotland, but seriously! By the time we're done for the day I'm bushed and the wifi has been dodgy. I've been doing most of my FB posts off my phone.
That said, we are having a lovely time. In Dublin we hit the ground running at 5AM, found the Book of Kells, a wonderful little yarn shop: This is Knit and met Deb McDermott of Stonehedge Farm and her daughter Jodi. Sheep, sheep, sheep and more sheep. I now have a roving with Zwartable (look it up!) and have met a few Hebridean boys. My bag is much fuller of yarn, books, fiber and some gifts and my brain is full of color and texture and ideas. I met knitters walking on Princes St in Edinburgh from England and Greece. I didn't meet any of the people I had hoped to meet, but everyone I did meet has been wonderful.
Class was great, the venue at a Leith River Education area was great and my class mates were great.
I met a few fiber rockstars: Class with Felicity Ford of Knitsonik and Kate Davies, also the dyers and designers at Blacker yarns. On Skye we met a shepherdess and her partner at their croft (they raise the Hebrideans, and Black Cheviot.) We tried to meet the Handspinner Having Fun in Broadford but she wasn't open yet for the season.
I can't believe our time is almost at an end. Tomorrow we visit Stirling Castle and possibly a fellow EYF attender at her studio in Callendar before we head to the airport, Dublin and then back to the States.
